Sports betting is finally legal in Indiana, which means that NBA fans will soon be able to bet on NBA games from their home or anywhere in Indiana on their mobile devices. If you’re new to NBA betting, you’re on the right page.
On this page, we will tell you more about NBA betting, a bit about NBA odds, and when you can expect to bet on NBA games in Indiana.
Betting on the NBA in Indiana
Sports betting is expected to launch in live casinos at some point during the second half of 2019. There are over a dozen casinos in the state, so there should be plenty of option for live NBA betting. Online sports betting will take a bit longer as casinos will have to apply for licenses and set up their mobile betting options.
We don’t have a list currently of casinos that will offer sports betting, but you can expect products from 888, Caesars, FanDuel, and DraftKings to be among those offered once online sportsbooks launch.
Forms of NBA Betting
NBA betting is extremely popular with fans betting on their favorite teams during the regular season and postseason. Indiana online sportsbooks will take NBA betting action on all teams with a variety of bets available. Below are the different forms of betting you can expect to find at Indiana online sportsbooks.
Point Spreads – One of the most popular ways to bet on NBA games, you’re betting on the margin of victory or loss by a team. Underdog bets can win if the team wins outright or loses by less than the spread. Bets on the favorite only win if they win by more than the spread.
Moneyline – The easiest way to bet as you’re picking the winner. NBA odds for underdogs are + odds and show what you can win on a $100 wager. The favorites have – odds and this shows how much you have to bet to win $100.
Totals – With this bet, you’re betting on total points scored by both teams in a game. You’re betting the over or the under on a line set for the game. If a match-up between the Pacers and Bulls has a line of 210.5, you’ll bet the over or the under.
Parlays – This is a popular form of betting where you bet on multiple games at once. However, every part of the bet has to win before the bet can pay off. These are among the most lucrative forms of sports betting.
Teasers – Similar to parlays, you can adjust the lines to improve your odds of winning. However, you will make less than standard parlays.
NBA Teams in Indiana
The only NBA franchise in Indiana is the Indiana Pacers. The Pacers were a three-time ABA champion before the merger but have yet to win the NBA finals. The team has made the playoffs every year but one in this decade but has not enjoyed much success.
The last four years, they have made the playoffs but have been bounced in the first round. Presently, the team seems to lack the pieces necessary for a deep playoff run. Regardless, expect plenty of action on the Pacers once NBA betting launches. We expect Indiana online sportsbooks to launch at some point in 2020.
