Where to Bet on the NCAA in Indiana

The good news is that NCAA betting will be available soon in Indiana, but you’ll have to wait a bit for online sports betting. Live sports betting at brick and mortar casinos will likely launch in time for college football season. Online sports betting is expected to launch sometime in 2020, maybe even in time for March Madness. Expect companies such as FanDuel, DraftKings, FOX Bet, William Hill, and Caesars Sportsbook to offer NCAA odds on various sports.

Note that you must be physically located in Indiana to bet on NCAA sports. You don’t need to be a resident, but you must have a device that can be located by WiFi.

How to Bet on the NCAA

College football and March Madness will draw the majority of the action for NCAA betting but will be able to bet on a variety of NCAA sports. Below are the ways you can bet on NCAA sports in Indiana. Note that NCAA odds will be in moneyline format.

Moneyline – The easiest bet to place as you’re betting the winner of a game. Moneyline odds are simple and the basis for the majority of US sports betting. The underdog has – NCAA odds and the odds listed are how much you will win on a $100 bet. Favorites have + NCAA odds, and the odds listed are how much you have to bet to win $100. If Notre Dame is -180 against Pitt as +180, you have to bet $180 on the Fighting Irish to win $100.

Points Spread – One of the most popular forms of NCAA betting, where you’re betting whether a team will beat the line established. Underdogs must win outright or lose by less than the spread. Favorites have to win by more than the spread. If the Hoosiers are -17 against Liberty, they have to win by more than 17 for your bet to pay off.

Total Points – You’re betting on total points scored by both teams. This is a straight over/under bet.

Prop Betting – These bets having little to do with who wins or loses but on other events during games. For example, you can bet on how many fouls your team will commit or how many points your team’s star player will score.

Futures – These are bets on future events, such as the eventual winner of the National Championship.

Will There Be Any Restrictions on NCAA Betting?

The good news about NCAA betting is that there will be no restrictions on betting on in-state schools. That means you can bet on Notre Dame, the Hoosiers, Butler, Purdue, or any in-state NCAA school.

However, there may be limits on In-Game betting. Lawmakers included a provision that allows regulators to restrict In-Game betting. However, these are optional restrictions, and we will not know what they will be until regulations are drafted.
