The final week of the NBA regular season is upon us, and playoff positioning is still up for grabs. A pair of Eastern Conference contenders will meet up on Monday night down in Orlando, Florida., hoping to improve their standings.
The Indiana Pacers have gone 4-1 during the NBA restart, improving their overall record to 43-27. Miami has gone just 2-3 so far down in Orlando, so they also come into this game with a 43-27 record. If the playoffs started today, these two teams would play in the first round, as they’re tied for fourth in the conference standings.
The Miami Heat are 2.5-point favorites over the Indiana Pacers on Monday night.
Pacers Odds: Warren Continues to Impress
Pacers guard TJ Warren scored another 39 points on Saturday in a win over the Los Angeles Lakers. Warren leads all players in scoring down in Orlando, averaging 34.8 points per game.
Indiana has been doing all of this damage without Domantas Sabonis, who remains out of the lineup with a foot injury. Sabonis was an All-Star this season and was scoring more than 18 points per game.
The Pacers remain a solid defensive team, and they have allowed just 107.7 points per game this season. Indiana has been one of the best teams in Orlando during the restart.
Heat Odds: Heat Need to Defend
The Miami Heat are allowing just 109.2 points per game this season, but their defense has struggled of late. Miami has allowed 249 total points in their last two games, both of which were losses.
Duncan Robinson and Tyler Herro each had 25 points in the most recent loss to the Phoenix Suns, but the Heat were playing short-handed. Goran Dragic, Jimmy Butler, and Kendrick Nunn all sat out against Phoenix, but the team is hopeful to have them back in the lineup on Monday night.
Betting Pick for Pacers vs. Heat for August 10, 2020
Even though the Miami Heat are the favorites in this matchup, the Indiana Pacers have been playing much better basketball. Miami has really struggled to defend in its last two games, and Indiana has been putting up points like crazy.
Warren has been the league MVP so far during the restart, and he will stay hot in this game, especially after Butler had some disparaging remarks about him after these two teams matched up earlier this season. Expect this to be a close and intense game, but the Pacers just have too much offense.
Take the 2.5 points and bet the Indiana Pacers over the Miami Heat in this game.
