Can the Pacers stay Afloat as they Wait for Victor Oladipo: Indiana Pacers Odds

An absolutely wild July has completely altered the National Basketball Association Landscape. For the first time in what seems like a decade, parity reigns supreme. Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving formed the latest superpower in the East. The Toronto Raptors celebrate a Championship victory, and the Milwaukee Buck re-load for another run at the title with reigning MVP Giannis Antentokounmpo. Where does all that leave the Indiana Pacers in a suddenly loaded Eastern Conference?

Indiana has had a relatively quiet off-season, which may be costly in the 2019-20 NBA season. The Pacers did trade for guard Malcom Brogdon in a smooth piece of business. The 6”5 former Rookie of the Year can guard three positions, and is effective both as a primary ball handler and off the ball. He’s also shot 44 percent from 3-point range over his first three NBA seasons. In 2019, the 26 year old became just the eighth player in NBA history to register a 50-40-90 shooting season. Signing the guard from Virginia to a 4 year, 85 million dollar deal was largely glossed over by the media with the entire Kawhi Leonard saga dominating headlines.

Yet, the signing of the largely underrated Brogdon will turn out to be one of the steals of the summer. Brogdon will pair with athletic big Myles Turner and promising young forward Domantis Sobanis to try and keep the Pacers in the playoff hunt until Victor Oladipo returns.

Indiana Pacers Odds and Pacers Futures Odds

Betting on Indiana Pacers futures is far from a for gone conclusion. With team President Kevin Pritchard recently stating Victor Oladipo may be out until January, the team will be hardpressed to stay in touch in a suddenly loaded Eastern Conference. However, the betting value may be on the Pacers Over/Under win total which sits at 47.5. Following the prop bets in a season full of uncertainties is sometimes the way to go. In a much improved conference, with their best player set to miss half the season, the Indiana Pacers are set for regression.

The Pacers won 48 games a season ago, and one would think that number would be a little closer to the 42 to 46 range entering 2019. Even if Oladipo returns on time, the Bucks, Celtics, Sixers, Nets, and Raptors all enter this NBA season with significantly better rosters than Indiana. It may hurt your heart, but betting the under on the Indiana Pacers win total is the spot to place your money this year.

Vegas clearly views the Pacers as extreme longshots in this year’s Eastern Conference race. With odds at +1600 to win the East side of the NBA, bettors will have more fun looking elsewhere. Even with a fully healthy “Dipo” and a reinvigorated squad the Pacers will be hard pressed to win their conference. Betting on the Pacers to win the division may be a better proposition at +390 to win the Central. All the Pacers would have to do in that case, is surpass NBA MVP Giannis Antentokounpo and the Milwaukee Bucks. Easier said than done.

Pacers odds to win the Championship sit at +4900. Imagining the Pacers going toe to toe with the Lakers, Clippers, Warriors, Nets or Bucks is almost a dream. Picture that idea in your head before you place a bet on the Pacers to win. Unless you believe deep in your heart that Dipo will return and go ballistic on the league, bet on another team to win the 2019 NBA Championship. The Indiana Pacers odds to win the NBA Championship are long for a reason. Look elsewhere for 2019.
